Important information for staff who park in the east and central parts of campus

As you will know, work has commenced on the new student accommodation near the Edward Herbert Building. We previously notified colleagues that this necessitated road and car park closures, and that two temporary car parks had been created to largely mitigate the loss of spaces.

Following heavy rain and excessive speeds, one of these car parks, adjacent to the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM), has had to be closed whilst additional work is carried out to make the surface more robust. The second temporary car park [the old Ann Packer site] adjacent to the Design School remains open.

From Wednesday 28 January to Saturday 31 January, between 8am and 5.30pm, the following additional arrangement will be in place:

  • The short-stay swimming pool car park, accessible from the east (Epinal Way) entrance, will be available for staff only as a long-stay option. We encourage colleagues who work at the Epinal Way end of campus to make use of it, to release pressure on central car parks. Security colleagues will be available to help direct.

The multi-storey car park (Car Park 1) near the Wolfson Building and Holywell Park are also likely to have capacity and the frequency of the on-campus shuttle bus service has been increased to make it easier to get from these car parks to the central and eastern areas of the campus.

Thank you for your cooperation with this adjustment. We hope to return the temporary car park affected back to use from Monday 2 February 2026.
