This year marks a new era for Maia, Loughborough University’s Women’s Network, as it welcomes its new co-chairs.

With Henrietta Pocock and Gemma Towle’s tenure as co-chairs coming to an end, Maia members cast their votes for the network’s new co-chairs last month.

The Maia Committee are pleased to announce that current Advocacy Lead, Kat Halliday, has been elected as Co-Chair, alongside Gemma Towle, who has been successfully re-elected as Co-Chair.

Incoming Co-Chair, Kat Halliday, on her new role: “I’m delighted to be stepping into the role of Co‑Chair of the Maia network and to help continue the fantastic work already underway. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Henrie for her incredible contributions and leadership, which have shaped such a strong foundation for us to build on.

“Moving forward, I’m excited to collaborate not only within Maia but also across our other staff networks on shared priorities, including projects like Period Dignity. As always, please let us know, via the advocacy form, anything you’d like us to explore, raise, or champion on your behalf.”

Continuing Co-Chair, Gemma Towle added: “I’m honoured to have been voted in again as Co-Chair of Maia and am truly grateful for the continued trust and support of our membership. Maia is an incredible network, and I firmly believe in the power of women coming together to create positive change for one another and for the wider University community. I’m really looking forward to working with Kat in her new role, while also taking a moment to acknowledge Henrie, who has been an absolute force and will be greatly missed. Everything we do as a network is shaped and driven by our members, and I’m excited to continue building something meaningful together.”

Outgoing Co-Chair, Henrietta (Henrie) Pocock said: “As my time as Co-Chair comes to an end, I want to say what a joy it’s been to work with such an amazing committee and a real privilege to contribute to important projects, such as the Saudi proposal and menopause initiatives, alongside such a talented and supportive team. I have learned so much.

“Huge congratulations to our incoming co-chairs. Maia is in very good hands, and I am excited to see the network continue to grow under their leadership. I will still be helping out where I can and hope to see members around.”
