Don’t forget to have your say in the Staff Experience Survey

Don't forget to complete the Staff Experience Survey. We invite you to make use of this opportunity to tell us what you think about working at the University, have your say on what matters the most to you and what you think we (as a University) should prioritise.

So far, almost 50% of colleagues have completed the survey. Thank you to those who have taken part. It only takes 10 minutes to complete and supports us in understanding where action needs to be taken to bring about change.

If you are yet to have your say, you can take part in the survey now until it closes on 30 November 2025.

You will have previously received an email from People Insight containing your unique link to access the survey. You can also participate in the survey using your mobile device. Posters and postcards with QR codes have been distributed across communal staff areas on campus. Scan the code to access the survey.

Feedback and reflections provided in previous iterations of the Staff Experience Survey have informed real and impactful changes in terms of how things are done at the University. Some of the changes and actions implemented that address what people raised in the Staff Experience Survey are outlined below:

  • The Vice-Chancellor's Awards are going from strength to strength with the introduction of new categories, and the greatest number of nominations received since its inception, enabling even more staff to be recognised. This year alone, the awards received nearly 400 nominations and recognised the exceptional achievements of colleagues from across job families, schools and services.
  • Earlier in the year, we were proud to be deemed sector-leading in our staff experience in the Inspire HE Rankings. The feedback you provided in the Staff Experience Survey helped us to achieve this alongside providing insight as to where we can go further to support colleagues and improve the employee experience.
  • We’ve introduced the Loughborough Real Living Wage supplement to address pay compression at the lower grades.
  • The launch of the Octopus Electric Vehicle Scheme provides eligible colleagues with the opportunity to access exclusive rates on flexible lease agreements for electric vehicles.
  • Introduction and piloting of new career pathways and promotion routes for Specialist and Supporting Academic (SSA) staff. We now have a set of criteria to support a robust promotions process to ensure we have opportunities for professional development for the staff who continue to provide an outstanding educational experience. The pilot will continue into the 2026 promotion round.
  • General Assemblies open to all staff, and led by the Vice-Chancellor and the Senior Leadership team, have enabled colleagues to hear important updates about the University and to learn about the action that is being taken to ensure that the most important issues facing the University are being addressed.
  • Recognising the important role line managers play in supporting individuals’ wellbeing and development, the University is rolling out Academic Line Management within Schools.
  • Our Staff Summer Picnic was jointly hosted by the University Leadership team and our Trade Unions. The event provided the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the year, meet new faces, and find out what’s happening across the University.
  • The structure of our Long Service Awards has been adapted to celebrate staff reaching different milestones, appreciating the diversity of employment journeys and recognising more contributions to the success of the University over the years.
