The team has been shortlisted in the ‘Collaboration and Innovation’ category in the Association of University Legal Practitioners (AULP) Awards 2025, for their work around training and developing a community of practice for those working with contracts at the University.

Katy Boyle, Graduate Solicitor Apprentice, has also been shortlisted for AULP’s Rising Star Award. Katy joined the University as its first legal apprentice in 2022. She is a fierce advocate locally and nationally for the benefits of apprenticeships, including in relation to social mobility and those with a disability.

Jointly with colleagues in Loughborough Sport and the AULP Membership team, Legal Services has been shortlisted for the Best Event Experience award at the annual HEIST Awards 2025. This was in recognition of hosting the 2024 AULP Conference and Inaugural Awards on our East Midlands campus, which was a truly collaborative endeavour between the three teams.

Sam McGinty, General Counsel and Director of Legal Services said: “These nominations reflect the innovative approach adopted by the team in providing the best possible service to the University and in recognising our leadership role within the organisation and beyond. I’m absolutely delighted to see the team acknowledged in this way and offer particular congratulations to Katy for being shortlisted for the Rising Star Award.”

The winners of the AULP awards will be announced at the AULP conference at the University of York in June. AULP is a Special Interest Organisation under Professional HE Services Limited, a campus partner. The Heist Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony in July.
