Notice for academics: Module Teams - Academic Year 2025/2026

To help improve the user experience in Microsoft Teams, IT Services will begin the annual archive process for academic year module teams.

The archive process will commence on the following dates:

  • Undergraduate: From Tuesday 9 September
  • Pre-sessional, Postgraduate Taught and others: Week commencing 6 October

Once archived, the module teams will appear in the team owner’s archived list within the Microsoft Teams app.

Archived teams will follow the same retention, renewal, and expiry policies as all other teams within Microsoft 365.

Module Teams for the 25/26 academic year

From Wednesday 27 August, new module teams will start to be created, and team owners will begin to see them appear in their Microsoft Teams app.

These will be populated with staff and students based on the data held in LUSI for each module.

Please note that:

  • From w/c 15 September, staff and students will only be added to module teams (not removed), allowing for manual additions where needed — for example, in cases not captured in LUSI data, such as the meta module.
  • Module teams will need to be activated in order for them to become visible to students prior to the start of teaching. It is suggested to activate at least 24 hours prior to first student use.

Panopto app for lecture capture

Recordings of teaching sessions should be uploaded to Panopto. Staff should remind students that official recordings can be accessed via the Learn module page for that specific module.
