Reform, a think tank which mainly focuses on Britain’s public services, launched the scheme with the aim of giving “rising stars” an opportunity to connect with policymakers and give them a platform to showcase their work.

Kinga’s research focusses on mathematical abilities and the contribution of reasoning skills to mathematical performance. In her role as a Reform Scholar, she will develop a set of policy outputs focused around the consequences of underdiagnosis, the lack of recognition and targeted support for dyscalculia, and the steps that could be taken to address these issues. Kinga’s role will involve connecting directly with policymakers in Westminster and Whitehall and will provide her with valuable new skills.

Applications to the scheme were highly competitive, with only four Reform Scholars selected to be included in this year’s cohort. The Policy Unit supported Kinga by helping her consider the policy relevance and application of her work. The Policy Unit will also be supporting Kinga for the duration of the scheme.

This is part of an ongoing piece of work by the Policy Unit to offer researchers at all levels the opportunity to work with policy organisations through our various connections and partnerships, including think tanks such as Reform.
