The Art Committee is the institution’s space for promoting and advocating for the importance of the arts across our campuses. Comprised of representatives from across the University and the community, the committee is passionate about the value of the arts and its vital contribution to the University’s three strategic themes.
The Arts Committee is committed to furthering the Cultural and Creativity Strategic Plan. It works alongside Loughborough University’s unique, bespoke arts and culture offering expertly led by LU Arts and the Radar programme. It also strengthens our relationship with civic, national and international partners through a shared appreciation of arts and culture. Whether you are a student or a member of staff, love film or dabble in painting, play an instrument or just enjoy sitting back listening to an orchestra, or even use art to express your own identity, there is something for everyone.
This year, the Committee will explore and progress four strategic aims emerging from the Cultural and Creativity Strategic Plan. Four working groups are coming together to discuss the following:
- Arts in research and promoting the work of Radar across campus
- Accrediting our wonderful art collections
- Improving our arts spaces across campus and ensuring they are accessible to all
- Events and understanding the way that the arts might amplify the exciting events already happening on our campuses.
Professor Claire Warden commented: “This committee is made up of people from across our campuses who are passionate about the arts. We want everyone to be involved in Loughborough’s exciting arts scene and to advocate for the arts across our campus. The whole committee is excited to imagine the future of the arts at Loughborough.”
The Arts Committee meets officially three times a year, though the working groups will be meeting more regularly throughout the year. We would be glad to hear from anyone across our campuses who would like to learn more about the arts at Loughborough. Feel free to contact the Chair, Professor Claire Warden.
