Trans and Non-binary support sessions for staff

Across the University and Students’ Union, there are a variety of ways to access support for those who identify as LGBT+ and those who are questioning their sexuality or gender identity.

In the second semester of the last academic year, Student Services extended their 1-1 support and advice sessions staff. The sessions received overwhelmingly positive feedback and are continuing for the next academic year.

These free and confidential sessions offer support and advice for transgender and non-binary people, as well as those questioning their gender identity. Parents and carers can also access the service for help with those in their care. It provides space and time, as well as a friendly face and a listening ear, for staff to access support and advice in a way that is right for them.

This service is led by Lisa Vine, an LGBT+ advocate, consultant and trainer based in Loughborough, with almost six years of experience supporting transgender and non-binary children, teenagers and young adults. Lisa is a Loughborough University alumna and previous Chair of the Loughborough Students’ Union's LGBT+ Association.

Appointments are available 12pm-1pm every other Wednesday during term time. These are 50-minute appointments which can be either in person, on Microsoft Teams, or by telephone. You can choose how you would like to access support when you book.

Support is also available for students, please visit the Student Services website for more information.
