How you can play a part in building our international reputation

Loughborough University’s international engagement and impact is one of the University’s strategic aims from now until 2030.

The ambitions of this include advancing the global impact of our research and our network of overseas partners, building on our international community of staff, students and alumni, as well as enhancing the University’s performance in international league tables such as the QS.

Strong rankings in international league tables bring a wealth of benefits to higher education institutions like Loughborough, including:

  • Opportunities to facilitate collaborations and partnerships with other universities from across the world due to increased visibility in the rankings.

  • The ability to not only attract prospective students, but also to capture the attention of government policymakers.

  • To strengthen our own University Strategy and its goals and ambitions.

Each academic School and the Sports Development Centre have recently established an International Reputation Champion. The first role of the International Reputation Champions will be to identify and update key contacts to participate in the next round of the QS Global Reputation Surveys, which will influence the 2025 QS World University Rankings which are due to be published in June 2024. This work will be undertaken over the summer.

The QS World University Rankings are based on a number of different metrics. The Global Reputation Surveys inform the Academic and Employer Reputation Scores which are weighted at 30% and 15% respectively. Research output and impact over a five-year period, a sustainability score and graduate employment outcomes also influence the overall ranking.
