University Chaplains mark Lent by sharing random acts of kindness

Lent is a period of 40 days which comes before Easter in the Christian calendar. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ's sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days.

Over the next 40 days, the University chaplains will reflect on random acts of kindness through social media. Together with staff and students of faith, they will be showcasing kindness and what it means to them and to you.

Around the University, the Chaplains will also be distributing their random acts of kindness – heart-shaped seed paper, with the message “Enjoy watching your seed heart paper bloom beautifully in your care”, together with the bible verse “Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out “(Hebrews 10.24)

What will your random act of kindness be this Lent? Let the Chaplaincy know on Instagram and Facebook.

The University Chaplaincy is a place where students and staff are welcome to pray, meditate, meet others, or seek a quiet place. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and offers help with spiritual, ethical and moral concerns. Chaplains from many of the world faiths are available to anyone irrespective of their identity, religious or spiritual beliefs.
