Students engaging in the Create and Connect sessions run by LU Arts

Create & Connect: Bringing international students together at Loughborough University

The Create & Connect series, ran by LU Arts between 18 October and 6 December, brought international students at Loughborough together to help them adapt to life at university, whilst engaging in creative activities.

Over the course of the eight-week program, international students learnt about British culture, as well as what opportunities are available to them in and around Loughborough.

The session covered topics including opening a bank account, travelling around the UK, and trying British foods, along with engaging in various art projects.

Tim Hewes-Belton, International Student Experience Coordinator at the University, commented: “Create and Connect has been a real success with students from a range of countries attending. It has given students a creative space to get to know each other and learn more about life here in the UK.

“It has been fabulous to see some students grow in confidence during the programme and express their creativity through a range of different art forms. We look forward to continuing to work with LU Arts in the future.”

The International Student Experience Team in Student Services, along with LU Arts, hope to have helped international students connect with each other, explore their creativity, and feel at home in Loughborough.
