Brother Daud has been a University Chaplain since 2017 and was widely respected as a faith leader both within the University and beyond.
He supported both staff and students and made a positive impact on them and their lives. His passing will leave a huge hole and will affect many people.
As well as his role at the University, Brother Daud was a member of the Loughborough Council of Faiths representing both Islam and the needs of the University community.
He had a varied career, starting as a Chartered Engineer and progressing to Executive Director in the Islamic Information Office at the Markfield Institute.
He gave lectures during University Islamic Awareness Weeks and published two works ‘A Guide for Hajj and Umra’ and ‘Presenting Islam in the West’.
During his time at Loughborough, he also developed a Dawah course in conjunction with the Loughborough University Islamic Society.
A book of condolences will be available to sign in the University Chaplaincy on the first floor of the Edward Herbert Building.
