Resources made more accessible using audiobooks, e-books and digital Braille

University staff and students now have access to a new self-service inclusive technology tool.

SensusAccess, available through the Library website, allows resources to be converted into a range of alternate media including audiobooks (MP3 and DAISY), e-books (EPUB, EPUB3 and Mobi) and digital Braille.

The service can also be used to convert inaccessible documents such as image-only PDF files and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.

To convert documents there is simple four-step process:

  1. Go to the SensusAccess page
  2. Add the file you wish to convert
  3. Select output format
  4. Enter your email address and wait for it to arrive

SensusAccess converts the file and sends it back to your email address, usually within a couple of minutes but it may take longer depending on the size of the file and the type of conversion.
