The Green Gown Awards shine a light on the inspiring and innovative work taking place across higher education institutions across the country.
Applications are being accepted until 6 June 2022.
The Awards ceremony will take place on 8 November 2022 as part of the EAUC (Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges) Conference being held at Loughborough.
This year two new categories will be introduced: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Sustainability (recognising the work institutions undertake to integrate equity, social justice and inclusion within their sustainability work), and the international 2030 Climate Action Prize. All categories have also been revised to consider the challenges and opportunities of the pandemic.
A full breakdown of the different categories and their criteria can be viewed online.
There are a host of benefits to applying for the Awards, including:
- Recognition for your team’s efforts
- Raising the profile of sustainability excellence at Loughborough nationally and internationally
- Increasing awareness across our institution
- Joining a network of like-minded institutions looking to improve sustainability practices
Loughborough University was Highly Commended at the 2019 awards for Spit Happens (a campus-wide initiative that aimed to increase the number of stem cell donors on the Anthony Nolan register), as well as being shortlisted in the ‘Benefitting Society’ category for a Summer School initiative led by the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering that set a project brief for students to design an eco-friendly apple store as part of the Fruit Routes harvesting activities.
