New energy hub to be built at Student Village

Earlier this month, work began to construct a new energy and data hub at the Student Village on the East Midlands campus.

Led by contractor Henry Brothers and designed by David Morley Architects, this major new build project will consist of a single-storey building located on Elvyn Way (opposite Faraday Royce Dining Room). It will improve the student and staff experience by offering a district heating and hot water system for student accommodation located nearby, replacing an energy hub previously based in Whitworth Tower.

The works are due to be completed by September 2023.

Staff and students should note there will be some disruption caused by the works, although efforts will be made to keep this to a minimum. Please follow any traffic management and alternative route signs associated with the ongoing work.

Other members of the team include structural engineer Ridge & Partners, M&E consultants Axis and FPCR landscape architects.

If you have any queries regarding the project, please contact Project Manager Ian Woodhouse at I.C.Woodhouse@lboro.ac.uk.
