Student success in national tech competition

Lara Pearson, Toby Oates and Luke Eason have been named winners of the Tech Titans competition.

All participants were given £1m of Tech Industry Gold Pounds to invest in a concept that would improve society.

The final year Information Technology Management for Business students pitched a mobile game that aims to help support young people with their mental health, creating a name, logo and designs for the app.

The judging panel was made up of Tech Titans including experts from IBM, Capgemini and Informed Solutions. Their design impressed the judges and they were awarded the first-place position.

On winning the competition the team said: “We’ve been doing these competitions since our first year and we’ve learnt so much along the way. It always feels great to win, but it was especially memorable with it being our last competition before we graduate.”

The competition was run by TechSkills who bring together employers and educational institutions to develop talent within the digital industry.
