Notice for Academics: Module Teams - Academic Year 2021/2022

To improve the user experience when accessing and using Teams, IT Services will commence the archive process to ensure adequate capacity to create and populate the module Teams for AY21/22. Cohorts’ modules will be archived on the following dates:

  • Undergraduate & Pre-sessional: week commencing 13 September
  • Postgraduate Taught and all other: week commencing 27 September

Once archived, the module Teams will appear in the team owners ‘archived list’ in the MS Teams client. For help finding these or restoring them from archive please see FAQ item four

The archived Teams will be subject to the same retention, renewal and expiry policy that applies to all Teams.

Module Teams – Created for AY 21/22

The module Teams for the new Academic Year are being created. Team owners will start to see them appear in their Teams client.

The Teams will automatically be populated with staff and students based on the data held in LUSI for each module until week commencing 20 September.

From 20 September, in line with the previous academic year, staff and students will only be added (not removed) to allow for manual additions to cover scenarios not captured in LUSI data such as meta-modules.

This year, the module Teams will be automatically activated week commencing 20 September, so the Team owners do not have to do this step.

Changes to recordings in Teams

Recordings are now stored in the Team Channel Files or on individuals OneDrive (depending on where the meeting is started) and all meeting participants can view the recording in Teams.

Recordings of online teaching events should still be uploaded to Panopto. Staff will need to make students aware that the official recordings can be accessed via the ReVIEW block on their Learn modules.

Panopto have released an app that allows Teams recordings to be uploaded into Review without the need to download and upload back into Review. This is currently being tested to see if it is a viable option for automatically uploading recordings.

Further details can be found on the Staff LEARN page.
