The programme is hosted by Loughborough’s Intellectual Property Management and Commercialisation team and made up of two interconnecting sessions:
- A two-day bootcamp on 24–25 June, 9am–4.30pm, Start-Up Labs, STEM Building
- A hybrid pitch day on 2nd July
Working in multi-disciplinary groups, you can explore your entrepreneurial potential and consider the impact your research can have on society, the environment and the economy. You'll leave with the skills and tools to identify and assess commercial opportunities, as well as the knowledge needed to negotiate the path to commercialisation.
Topics covered will include:
- an introduction to Intellectual Property (IP) and its importance in a business context
- the pathway to commercialisation, including value proposition, business models, securing grants and the support available through the University
- how to sell technical ideas to potential partners and investors through an elevator pitch
The bootcamp will also feature insights from successful University spin-out founders, and there will be opportunities to network and collaborate with other researchers.
After attending the two-day session, you’ll have the chance to pitch your research to an expert panel to gain feedback and apply this to your own future ventures.
Spaces on the workshop are limited and booking is required.
