Loughborough top in England for student satisfaction

Loughborough has been ranked 1st amongst mainstream universities in England for student satisfaction in the 2017 National Student Survey (NSS), which was released today (9th August).

Almost 92% of students who took part said they were satisfied with their course at Loughborough, a rise of three percentage points from last year. The national average is 84%.

In the subject areas Loughborough is ranked top in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology, Business Studies, and Information Services. We have top ten rankings in a further 13 subjects:  Chemical, Process and Energy Engineering (2nd), Chemistry (4th), Others in Technology (4th), Building (5th), Computer Science (5th), Materials and Minerals Technology (5th), Civil Engineering (6th), Aerospace Engineering (8th), Management studies (9th), Mechanical, Production and Manufacturing Engineering (9th) Politics (9th) and Mathematics and Statistics (10th).

Loughborough’s Learning Resources are also rated first in the UK and Loughborough Students’ Union is ranked second out of all university students’ unions in the country.

The NSS is important for several reasons. The results are used by potential students in deciding where and what to study. They are one of the most significant factors in determining how we do in many of the national league tables. They also provide us with feedback on what our students think we are doing well and, crucially, where they believe we can improve.
