Design School academic receives international award

Dr Mark Evans, a Reader in Industrial Design in Loughborough Design School, has received the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) 2016 Education Award at their International Conference in Detroit, USA.

The award was presented to Dr Evans "in recognition of significant and distinguished contributions to the field of industrial design education."

Dr Evans has long-standing connections with teaching and research in the USA through appointments as visiting professor at Rhode Island School of Design, International Scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, guest lectures at design schools throughout the country and hosting visits by students and academics to Loughborough Design School. His research focuses on the development of tools that increase understanding in creative product design, with a diverse range of outputs that include app, patent, product, exhibition and design award.

Commenting on the award win, he said: "This is a great honour for any academic and I am delighted but somewhat humbled to join the list of past recipients."
