Intelligent Energy is named most successful company by UK Science Park Association

Intelligent Energy – the clean energy technology company founded on Loughborough University research – has won the Most Successful Company Award at The United Kingdom Science Park Association 30th Anniversary Summit.

Intelligent Energy received the award from science writer and presenter Michael Mosley, at the UKSPA Gala Dinner on Thursday 10 July.

The UKSPA Award follows on from Intelligent Energy’s London stock exchange debut last week. An IP rich company with over 25 years in R&D, and over 350 patents granted, development of proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells began at Loughborough University in the late 1980s, and at spin-out, Advanced Power Sources (APS) Ltd, which became the UK’s first company to specifically address the development and commercialisation of PEM fuel cells.

Professor Steve Rothberg, Loughborough University Pro Vice Chancellor for Enterprise, said: “Intelligent Energy is an outstanding example of a successful science park organisation. In 2001, they were the ‘one-to-watch’ in the University’s new Innovation Centre. Today, with a workforce of 350, they are thriving within our Science and Enterprise Parks’ energy cluster.”
