Personal Wireless Printers
HallNet Wi-Fi should only be used by devices which don’t support connecting to eduroam, e.g. printers, games consoles, streaming devices.
Below is a generic list of instructions and the set up for your printer may vary slightly. Please read the instruction manual for your printer first.
If your printer does not support WPA2-Enterprise, you have 3 options:
- Enable your printer to create its own wireless network through Wi-Fi Direct (also known as peer-to-peer or ad-hoc wireless network). To print using this method, you will need to connect to your printer's wireless network. Please consult your printer's manual, online guide or manufacturer for information on how to do this.
- Connect your printer to HallNet, the wired network connection (free Ethernet cables can be collected from your hall reception area or the PC Clinic).
- Connect your device to your printer manually using a USB cable.
Alternatively, we recommend connecting your personal devices to the centrally managed network printers across campus. The printers support wireless printing from personal devices and are significantly cheaper to use. More information can be found in the Printing section.
