VPN Service

Virtual Private Network

How does it work?

The Cisco Secure Client is an app that connects your laptop or computer to the University’s network from anywhere, as long as you are connected to the internet.

All your internet traffic goes through the VPN to Loughborough, allowing you access to University internet-based resources which could otherwise be restricted to on-campus use only.

When connected to the VPN you are bound by the University's IT Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). Please remember to disconnect when you are finished.

The VPN service has been upgraded to a newer, secure version. This application name has also changed to ‘Cisco Secure Client’.

This is now available for staff to access on the Windows Managed Desktop Service to install on their University laptop or PC device.

Download and install Cisco Secure Client 5.1.0.136 from the Software Centre.

For Mac users on the Managed Staff Service, Version 5.1.1.42 is available from the self-service app.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) has now been added as an additional layer of security for staff and students working away from the University and accessing VPN and web services. Please use the button below to visit the MFA website for support and guidance on how to set up DUO, our chosen multi-factor authentication platform.
