Student parking
Students generally do not need a private car during their studies at Loughborough; the town is compact and most amenities, including the University, are within easy walking or cycling distance.
A free shuttle bus is also provided by the University to support travel around campus. Free campus shuttle bus
If you do need to use a motor vehicle while studying, you must register it with the University through the Student Self Service Portal to comply with Local Authority regulations — even if you don’t intend to drive onto campus. Unregistered vehicles may incur charges under Ordinance XXIII.
Campus parking is managed by an external company called APCOA
Hall parking
Students living in Claudia Parsons, John Philips, Hazlerigg-Rutland, Elvyn Richards and Robert Bakewell halls are not permitted to bring their motor vehicle in the town without a permit to park. This is a restriction placed on the use of motor vehicles as part of the Hall Terms & Conditions.
Standard Student Permits
Standard permits cost £25 per month but do not guarantee parking space availability. There are limited in number, available on a first-come-first-served basis for students:
- commuting from outside the LE11 postal area
- living off campus within LE11( Students living in Harry French, The Holt, William Morris are not permitted a standard permit and should instead contact Unite Students)
Permitted parking is for the following car parks only via the East Entrance (Epinal Way) or the West Entrance (Ashby Road). These are managed by automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) enforcement, which means that a Parking Charge (PC) will be issued to any vehicle not parked in the correct car park. Please note that a 30‑minute grace period is in place to allow for drop‑offs and pick‑ups in other areas of campus.
Parking in any other area may result in a Parking Charge (PC) i.e. a fine.
