How can we maintain physical activity?

20-40% of physical activity in successful interventions are maintained at least three months after the end of the intervention.

We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of successful physical activity interventions and looked at whether people continued to be physically active after the end of their intervention.

We found that 60-80% of physical activity is maintained at a later follow-up. Successful interventions should be commissioned and offered to the general public.

What next?

Why are successful interventions not being implemented? What are the components of interventions that are successful at maintaining physical activity?
