Information for guests
We understand that for many guests, it may be your first time at a Graduation or indeed at Loughborough University. Here is some information specific to you.
All graduands are guaranteed two guest tickets. We will do our best to accommodate all requests for additional tickets, but the sizes of ceremonies vary. After booking has closed, graduands will be advised of the availability of additional guest tickets and the process for requesting them. Additional tickets will be released on a first-come-first-served basis.
A web-cast will also be available in a lecture theatre for guests who cannot be accommodated in the main venue.
There is no charge for guest tickets. Guest seating is unallocated.
Children of all ages are welcome in the ceremony but require their own guest ticket.
Guests with Disabilities or Special Requirements
We will endeavour to accommodate the needs of all graduands and guests. Graduands should let us know as soon as possible of any individual requirements they or their guests may have. The Sir David Wallace Sports Hall is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
Graduation programmes are provided free of charge (one for each graduand and a further one for their guests to share). If a graduand has not given their consent for their data to be used for this purpose (part of the booking process) or their award has not been confirmed by the published deadline, their details will not appear in the programme. It is not possible to reprint amended copies of the programme at a later date.
We ask that all guests and graduands are seated 15 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. Ceremonies last in the region of 90 minutes, but may be slightly longer or shorter depending on the size of the School and whether an honorary award is being made. Please leave plenty of time for to get to the venue as there will be a lot of people on campus.
The University is unable to provide invitation letters for guests. Graduands may request written confirmation that they are due to attend the ceremony from the Student Enquiries Counter in the Rutland Building or email@example.com. UK-based graduands may wish to provide their own invitation letters for guests’ visa applications.
For more information on visas, please see the International Student Advice and Support Visa page.
Travel and Accommodation
The University is able to offer accommodation in hotels and a hall of residence for graduands and guests. There are also a number of hotels in the town centre which are a short distance from the campus.
The satnav postcode for the West Entrance is LE11 3GR - see the Find Us page for more travel information.
