Computers, laptops and other IT equipment
All IT hardware and equipment needs to be requested via IT Services.
Any desktops, workstations, laptops, tablets, monitors or other peripheral devices must be requested via the appropriate form below.
All staff and doctoral researchers who need a computer for their role are provided with a 14" laptop capable for running Windows 11 and a single monitor/docking solution.
Please note:
-
We have a one device per person policy unless there is a business case for additional equipment and approval from the relevant budget holder.
-
Equipment is provided in line with the agreed hardware and dynamic working policies/principles.
-
All equipment must be returned to IT Services when no longer needed or when a member of staff leaves. Please contact it.services@lboro.ac.uk to request collection.
-
IT Services look to maximise value and sustainability by re-using equipment wherever possible.
-
Standard peripherals and standard Windows laptops can normally be provisioned in 2 weeks. Some non-standard equipment is subject to extended lead times of circa 4-5 weeks due to the need to build to order and ship from overseas.
- We do not provide mobile telephone handsets but do manage and provide the contracts for those handsets. Please see Mobile phone procurement
IT Services only provide support for laptops, PCs, tablets and peripherals that are purchased through the correct routes. IT Services maintain a set of standard equipment that is tested and known to work with the University network and software. Any devices which are bought without consulting IT Services cannot be supported by IT Services and there is a risk that they will not work.
There are a number of devices and categories of devices listed below that are known to not work with University systems, software and/or network or cannot be properly supported and should not be purchased.
