Prepaid Hall Meal Saver

How does it work?

You buy a set amount of meals which are loaded onto your LU Reward Club app which can be used in any dining hall to purchase meals for £5.95.  You receive 1 free meal voucher(s) for every 10 meals purchased so effectively for every 10 meals you get one free meal, making the cost per meal only £5.40 which gives you a great saving.

 

 

How do you register for the Reward Club?

  • Download the App from the App Store or Play Store searching for “LU Rewards”
  • Register your details using @lboro / @student.lboro or tenant email address*
  • Validate your account via your registered email address
  • Once validated your account is ready to use.

    *PLEASE DON’T USE YOUR UNIVERSITY PASSWORD WHEN SETTING UP AN ACCOUNT

 

Where can I buy the Catered Hall Meal Saver funds?

Only through the reward club app payment portal.

The Prepaid Hall Meal Saver can be used in any dining hall across campus

How long will it take for the purse to be ready from purchase?

Once you decide on how many meals you want to buy and confirm payment the funds drop into the purse instantly and are ready to use. The payment total will appear in your Prepaid Catered Hall Meal Saver top up purse and a receipt will be emailed

 

Who can buy the Prepaid Hall Meal Saver funds?

Anyone linked to the University with a student, staff or tenant email address and a compatible smart phone device.

 

What if I change my mind, can I get a refund ?

If you change your mind and have not used any of the Prepaid Meal purse or free meal vouchers you are entitled to a full refund.
But only if its within 14 days of purchase
All refunds are issued via the payment portal.
Once any of the Hall Meal purse has been spent or a free meal voucher has been used in a catered hall no refunds can be issued except in exceptional circumstances. 

 

Can the Hall Meals Saver be used for anything else?

Prepaid Hall Meals Saver can only be used for the purchase of a catered hall meal to the value of £5.95 in one of the catered dining halls on campus.
The catered hall meal units entitles you to the following:

1 catered hall meal unit entitles you to all of this:
Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.

One Main dish / Sandwich / Baguette

accompaniment; potatoes, vegetables and salad bar

Dessert or yoghurt

One piece of fresh fruit

All meals have unlimited hot drinks and squash

No other alternatives can be offered; the hall meal saver purse/voucher cannot be exchanged for anything else but these inclusive meals.

 

The Prepaid Catered Hall Meal purse/voucher cannot be used in retail outlets.

How do the vouchers work?

For every 10 meals you buy you will receive 1 catered hall meal voucher.
The voucher will be uploaded to your app within 24 hours  

Vouchers work the same way as the prepaid purse does through the app but if you wish to use a voucher just let the cashier know and they will select it for you.


What happens if there is a technical difficulty with the Rewards Club app?

Unfortunately, sometimes technical difficulties do happen. If for some reason you encounter a technical difficulty when redeeming your Prepaid Catered Hall Meal Saver purse/voucher at the till point, we won’t be able to process the transaction and the purse/voucher won’t be processed.  We ask for your patience whilst we restore the system so you can try again.

Can I see my transactions?

Yes, these are available under the section “Your Activity” on the website and App

What is included in the Prepaid Catered Hall Meal Saver meal?

We have carefully selected a varied and nutritional menu choice which can vary from day to day. Each meal unit entitles you to the following:

1 catered hall meal unit entitles you to all this:

One Main dish / Sandwich / Baguette

accompaniment; potatoes, vegetables and salad bar

Dessert or yoghurt

One piece of fresh fruit

All meals have unlimited hot drinks and squash

Does my Prepaid Catered Hall Meal Saver expire?

Yes at the end of each academic year : 28th June 2024

The Prepaid Catered Hall Meal Saver can only be used in TERM TIME.
It ends at the end of the academic year 28th June 2024.
After this date the dining halls close down for the summer vacation.

There is no refund for any unused units/vouchers after this date neither do they carry over into the next year.
The system will remove any Prepaid balance or vouchers after the end of each academic year.

What dates is the Prepaid Catered Hall Meal Saver is available?

The Prepaid purse can be used throughout the academic year but only in TERM TIME ONLY until the end of the academic year 28th June 2024. After this date the dining halls close down for the summer vacation. There is no refund for any unused units after this date.

 

TERM TIME ONLY= 30 weeks a year when dining halls are open for catered students.
Dining halls do not operate during vacation time;
Christmas (3 weeks), Easter (4 weeks) or summer (16 weeks) holidays.  

Notifications?

All communication will be emailed to the registered email address and a push notification will be sent via the app if enabled.

Who is providing the service + who sends me emails?

An external company called MCR are supplying the service.

If you would like to receive offers and promotions through email, please add the below sender to your safe senders list. This is also the name of the sender email that will send your validation email when you sign up for a new account.

How do I check how much is in my purse?

Under the purses section on the app (star icon) if you look at Prepaid Catered Hall Meal Saver.

 

On the website if you view “my purses” and look at the Prepaid Catered Hall Meal Saver
This section will also show you recent activity for this purse.

What are the different types of purses?

Within the Reward Club app there are 2 purses.

  • Reward Club - points earned from purchases you have made in cafes and shops.
  • Prepaid Catered Hall Meal Saver - funds added via the payment portal for catered hall meals 

If I have a problem who do I contact?

If you encounter a problem with the Reward Club/ Prepaid Hall Meal Saver

Can I leave the Rewards Club/ Prepaid Catered Hall Meal Saver?

Yes you can leave the Reward Club/Prepaid at any time, we simply ask you to email us.

Please email Campusservicescustomer@lboro.ac.uk and request to leave the Reward Club.

Inactive Accounts?

Accounts will become inactive if they don’t show activity within 2 years.

What happens if the Reward Club/Prepaid is terminated?

If the Reward Club/Prepaid is terminated you will be given at least 3 months’ notice to spend your rewards points / vouchers earned /purse allowance.
