Isolation of District Heating for New Student Accommodation Project - 8 - 14 April 2026 Impacted Buildings: Listed below

Description of the Works

To allow for Capital Project alterations, the district heating system will be isolated and partially drained as follows:
Affected Areas & Buildings
  • University Road Leg: Edward Herbert (010), Morag Bell (009), Wavy Top (045), James France (006), G Block (052), Brockington (007), Stewart Mason (076), NCSEM (210), Matthew Arnold (054), Design School (200), Towers (540-541), and Towers Dining (224).
  • East Park Leg: Angela Marmont/Graduate House (017), Schofield (005), Haslegrave (013), Hazlerigg (201), and Rutland (203).
Impact on Services
  • Heating: Heating will be unavailable in all buildings listed above for the duration of the works.
  • Hot Water: You may notice brief interruptions; however, systems will automatically switch to immersion heaters to maintain the supply.
Technical Schedule
  • Main Isolation: The system will be disconnected from the Central Boiler House. (Note: The Whitworth/Village leg remains fully operational).
  • Secondary Isolations: Both the East Park and University Road legs will be shut off.
  • Drainage: The East Park leg will be drained to facilitate the necessary works.
  • Restoration: The system will be refilled and returned to normal service immediately following project completion.
