Summary of project activities and outcomes:

Provision of monitoring and technical support to a 3 year water sector development project, operating in 4 provinces in China, concerning:

  1. Improved access to rural water supply and sanitation services in 2 provinces – Sichuan and Yunnan
  2. Development and dissemination of effective approaches and methodologies for sustainable access and use of water resources in 2 provinces – Liaoning and Gansu

The work involved review of project outputs (terms of reference, work plans, reports etc) with reporting to DFID. Monitoring visits and project reviews included field visits to project provinces and cities, and participation in project events and workshops etc.

Outputs included preparation and publication of a series of 10 briefing notes which summarised the experience and lessons learnt during the life of the project on different technical aspects. These were produced in both English and Mandarin.
