International Conferences
Developing knowledge and capacity in water, engineering and development worldwide.
The WEDC International Conference is a comprehensive and interactive learning event, which historically has provided continued professional development for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector professionals. Whilst WASH remains the dominant theme, the conference now extends to the water sector as a whole.
Focus
Our focus is on sharing both the latest research findings and practical experiences from the field.
The WEDC International Conference aims to support knowledge sharing, develop capacity and improve good practice for the sustainable delivery of services for the water sector in low-and middle-income countries. Over the years it has been regularly co-hosted in various locations in Africa and Asia making it the only conference of its kind. Recent conferences have been held online to extend their reach. Over a thousand delegates from 97 countries registered for the 43rd conference on water and climate resilience.
Conference structure
Our conference is typically and three-day event consisting of:
- Our conference sessions are facilitated by sector experts ensuring that the key lessons are identified and that the collective experiences from participants are shared.
- Our agency events are now an established feature of the conference - the programme is developed by working with a range of known and reputable international partners.
Audience
Our audience is predominantly drawn from low- and middle- income countries.
As such, experience is shared between people working in similar context where lessons and good practice are more readily transferable.
Typically the live conferences are attended by around 400 delegates from over 40 countries and include a diverse range of professionals and decision-makers. The online conferences have attracted over a thousand delegates from 97 countries.
