Our School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering is a leading integrated centre for research and teaching for the built environment, containing the highest ranked building energy research group in the UK according to the UK Government’s most recent research assessment (REF, 2014).

We are committed to teaching excellence and research impact, and providing an environment where our postgraduate students can excel.

Our programmes have a long track record of delivering high quality, research-led education. We have been responding to the changing needs of industry and producing high-quality graduates for over 40 years. The high quality of our programmes is showcased in national league tables, with the School being ranked 2nd in the UK for Building by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022 and The Complete University Guide 2022.

INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS

Our master’s degree programmes are designed to respond to contemporary requirements from industry and non-governmental organisations in terms of both knowledge and technical skills. We work closely with colleagues from industry to design our programmes to be as receptive as possible to both their needs and the needs of our students, who join us from all over the world.

We have an impressive number of strategic partnerships within the sector that aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry, with colleagues from industry contributing guest lectures to our teaching programmes. Our graduates secure a range of roles in a diverse set of organisations, including Arup, Atkins, Balfour Beatty, Kier Group, Morgan Sindall, Oxfam, Transport for London and WaterAid to name a few. The School is also a corporate affiliate member of the Association of Project Management.
