Summary of project activities and outcomes:

This demonstrates our expertise in understanding the WASH sector and evaluation though carrying out evaluation of WaterAid’s country programme in Mozambique focused on the relevance and effectiveness of the country programme’s work in relation to national priorities and WaterAid’s Global Aims. This work was led by Andy Cotton. Our specific tasks involved:

  • Acting as team leader and senior evaluator (urban) for the evaluation and to lead the evaluation team in planning and preparing a detailed evaluation process, schedule and report
  • Visiting WaterAid in Mozambique in March/April 2011 and evaluation in accordance with the ToR
  • Running an inception workshop for WaterAid’s strategic country partners
  • Study and analysis of both internal and external documentation to clearly understand the WASH sector and how WaterAid have positioned themselves in relation to it
  • Meet community members, NGO partners, government representatives and other sector stakeholders
  • Leading the de-brief at the end of the field work with the evaluation team, WaterAid and partner staff as well as relevant sector stakeholders
  • Leading the process of writing the report (and Briefing Paper) with the evaluation team to present findings and recommendations that emerged from the evaluation process to senior management at HQ
