Loughborough fits me very well and there is no single moment that I regret joining Loughborough. I can firmly say Loughborough is my second home.

What were you doing before you joined Loughborough?

I studied at King's College Hong Kong before coming to Loughborough.

Why did you choose to study at Loughborough University?

The main reason I chose to study at Loughborough University was because of its placement year. There are not many university programmes which include a placement year for students, whereas Loughborough University is one of the best universities in UK offering this type of programme. I believed that with the placement year, I would’ve been able to gain an opportunity to apply my knowledge from my work experience and gain a better understanding of the direction I want my future career to head in.

Loughborough University was also named number one in the UK for student experience in 2018. Everyone here is always willing to help and making you feel at home here. There are various activities for us to develop our interest on, from rugby to rock band. You can definitely find something that’s for you. For career development, the careers centre hold lots of CV workshops and 1-to-1 interview trainings in order to help us get familiar with the application process.

What have you enjoyed the most about studying at Loughborough University?

My favourite thing about Loughborough is the diverse culture here. Students from over 130 countries arrive on campus with different cultures and ideas. During this year, I have broadened my network and met many friends from different countries such as India, Romania and Nigeria. Thanks to Loughborough I have been provided with a great platform that has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of many different countries and enhance my international relationships. I am now planning to visit Paris since one of my friends from France has shared with me about the pleasant view and delicious food!

What advice would you give to future international students?

To all of you who would like to study in UK, it’s a diverse place filled with people that will welcome you coming anytime. Although you may feel homesick sometimes, you will meet lots of new friends to get through it. Step out of your comfort zone and experience all that it has to offer. Grab the chance while you still have time, write your own story and chase your dream. Also, if you are ready to study in UK, make sure you get a windcheater before coming!
