In the autumn and spring terms we hold two performance nights in The Lounge in the Students' Union. These events are a chance for you to showcase your talents or sit back and enjoy the talents of other students. Our live performance events are open to everyone but open mic slots are for Loughborough University students only.

Speech Bubble

Speech Bubble is a spoken word / performance poetry night featuring a professional poet alongside a popular open mic slot. If you are a student, you can register to perform your work in the open mic slot. Each year we appoint a Student Co-ordinator to organise these events for us. 

Meet our 2023-24 Speech Bubble Co-ordinator

'Hey, I’m Anna! I am currently an MA student studying Creative Writing. I spent the three years of my undergraduate using creative writing to boost my self-confidence and I want to help others do the same. I can’t wait to organise the Speech Bubble events this year showcasing Loughborough’s spoken word talent and making sure the events are exciting and inviting evenings for everyone. 

I’m super excited to work with LU Arts and show just how creative Loughborough University’s campus is.’

The next Speech Bubble event will take place on Monday 20 November, 7.30pm. Look out for more information under 'What's on' once this event has gone on sale. If you are interested in performing your work at this event then email LUArts@lboro.ac.uk and we will pass your details on to Anna.

Student Live Lounge

Student Live Lounge is an open mic evening featuring solo and small group performances showcasing the wide range of music talent on campus. We appoint a Student Co-ordinator to organise these events for us each year.
