Off campus roadshow
‘Freshers – Welcome to Loughborough 2023’ is an opportunity for all first-year students, whether you’re an undergraduate or postgraduate, to network with other students by attending events and activities both on and off our university campus.
We appreciate that not every first-year student will be living in our halls of residence, and therefore want to ensure that ‘Freshers – Welcome to Loughborough’ offers something for every student.
For students not living in halls of residence, we have collaborated with our Students' Union to produce a roadshow of events and activities for those living in Loughborough Town Centre or commuting to the University from outside Loughborough.
Event programme
'Yestival'
Join us in the tipi on the lawn outside of the Union building and discover what you can 'Say Yes' to at LSU. Whether you want to know more about volunteering projects, fundraising opportunities, social groups, sports clubs or something completely different, you'll find the answers you need at Yestival!
Commuter Students Induction
Commuting to campus? Join us for this networking opportunity to meet other commuter students. You will get a guided tour of campus, receive presentations from some of our university departments and services and have the chance to enjoy some refreshments. You’ll also receive a ‘Welcome Bag’ full of goodies and information.
Alton Towers
Get ready for the thrill of a lifetime as Loughborough Students Union takes over Alton Towers for an exclusive night of non-stop excitement! The UK’s biggest theme park, just for us – no lines, no waiting, just endless fun, and great vibes.
Petting Zoo
For one day only, you can meet a variety of animals — ranging from the small and fluffy to the big and scaly. The Petting Zoo is a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with animals you may not have encountered before.
Freshers Bazaar
Dive into the vibrant world of LSU! You’ll have the chance to explore hundreds of opportunities that you can get involved with while you study at Loughborough, including: societies, volunteering and fund raising projects, support networks and loads more.
International Welcome Events
All new international students are invited to attend an Induction and Welcome Evening organised by the Global Engagement office and the International Student Experience team during the first week of term. This is not a replacement for your departmental induction which you must also attend.
Each meeting will consist of an induction presentation followed by a buffet reception.
