LU Arts

We are the University's student-focused arts programme. We provide lots of opportunities to enjoy the arts and get creative during your time here. Our activities and events are open to all students - no matter what you are studying or what your ability level is. Many events are free or just £5.

We give you a chance to destress, learn new skills, meet new people, gain valuable experience and have fun. There are also opportunities to develop any existing talents you may have.

We support a wide range of art forms from pottery, painting and creative writing to music, dance and drama. Events include live performances, workshops, artist talks, screenings, exhibitions, competitions and more. Find out about different aspects of our programme below.

Creative writing

Write and perform your work at open mic performance poetry nights. Develop your skills with regular evening classes.

Access discounted music tuition and free music practice rooms. Perform at open mic nights or join a student society to stay interested in music.

Watch our National Theatre Live screenings or attend one-off workshops and talks. For performers, join a society like Stage, Shakespeare or LU Dance Club.

Sign up for one-off arts and crafts workshops or evening classes. Enjoy regular lunchtime exhibitions and Radar events (our contemporary art programme).

Arts scholarships

Talented musicians, writers, performers, artists and more can apply for an arts scholarship. Each with a £100 cash prize and (up to) £500 support package to develop your talent further.

Carry on your hobbies at Loughborough or discover a new one by joining a student society. There’s plenty on offer, from all genres of music and dance to drama, sketching, cinema and more.
