International exchanges and study abroad students

We offer International exchange and study abroad students the opportunity to apply for a place in University halls of residence.

If you are coming to Loughborough in September for one semester, you will be able to apply online for accommodation in June, once your place is confirmed. Please note that any applications received after 31 July will only be considered subject to availability.

Offers of accommodation will be made subject to availability from late August. Contracts will commence from late September before the start of term.

If you are coming to Loughborough in September for a full year, accommodation on campus will not be available to apply for. Please refer to our off-campus guidance

Applying for 2025/26 accommodation

Step one - Register and research your options

Take a look at our halls of residence and the type of accommodation available for you.

You can browse our halls and find out which halls are available for exchange and study abroad students.

Once your place is confirmed, you will be able to register on the Accommodation Hub. Our online application system will guide you through a quick and simple registration process, after which you’ll be able to apply for accommodation.

When you make an application, we will be asking you for your preferences so make sure you have an idea of what you are looking for but don't limit yourself to one choice. All our halls offer a great environment to study and have a strong community spirit.

Step two - Apply for accommodation

Once you have met the conditions of your offer for your course, you can apply for accommodation.

You can either reserve a room from our live list of available accommodation (subject to availability), or submit a preference application.

Please note, preference applications will not be considered until late August. Halls accommodation is not guaranteed, however, we promise to help you secure University allocated accommodation either on-campus or by referral to an approved off-campus provider.

Apply for accommodation

Step three - Agree your accommodation contract

Once you have an offer of accommodation, you will have 3 days to review and accept the offer.

You will need to enter your login username and password that you created when you registered to accept your contract online. At this point you will be entering into a legally binding agreement with the University - your landlord.

You will be sent an email confirming your contract via the email address you specified on your University application.

It's important that you

  • Confirm your room by accepting the terms and conditions and online contract.
  • Complete the online induction and book your arrival slot (available from late August).

We're here to help, so if you experience any problems applying for your accommodation, please contact us.

Off campus accommodation

Please note that as on-campus accommodation is not guaranteed, we recommend exploring off-campus options in Loughborough town. To start your search for good-quality housing, visit our off-campus accommodation information. The Studentpad website is the only place to find university-approved accommodation.
