Applying for accommodation as a postgraduate student

If you've received an offer to study as a postgraduate student, you can apply for accommodation on the Loughborough campus from May. Offers of accommodation will be sent, subject to availability, from July.

If you are a postgraduate taught student starting your course in October and want to apply for our halls of residence, we're here to guide you through the process and support you every step of the way.

Research students who are due to arrive in December, April and July, please contact us for details of availability.

Students studying on our London campus should refer to the information on our Loughborough University London website.

Step one - Research your options

Take a look at our postgraduate halls of residence and the type of accommodation available for you.

We have lots of information on each hall of residence alongside photos, 360 degree tours and videos to help you make an informed choice.

When you make an application, we will be asking you for your preferences so make sure you have an idea of what you are looking for but don't limit yourself to one choice. All our halls offer a great environment to study and have a strong community spirit.

Step two - Make your accommodation application

Once you have a firm offer for your postgraduate course, you can register your accommodation preferences for University accommodation online.

Our online reservation system will guide you through the short registration process and when this is complete you will receive a confirmation email.

Once registered, you can select three accommodation preferences based on area of the campus you want to live, hall and room type. Once you have completed your preference request you will be sent an email summarising your preferences.

Our team will use your preferences as a guide when allocating accommodation. Please note that we are not able to guarantee that you will be offered your preferred room type as all offers are made subject to availability, but the system will take into account both your preference options and date of application.

Once you have accepted an unconditional offer for your course, subject to availability, the accommodation team will allocate you a room. You will be sent an email confirming your accommodation offer and how to accept this online. You will receive your offer via the email address you specified on your University application.

Register your preference

Step three - Agree your accommodation contract

Once you have been allocated a room and given an offer of accommodation, you will be asked to accept it.

You will need to enter your login username and password that you created when you registered to accept your contract online. At this point you will be entering into a legally binding agreement with the University - your landlord.

It's important that you

  • Confirm your room by accepting the terms and conditions and online contract
  • Complete the online induction and book your arrival slot.

We're here to help, so if you experience any problems applying for your accommodation, please contact us.
