Competition Schedule:

Wednesday 6th December 11:59pm - Application Window Closes  
Wednesday 6th -15th December - Judges review & Winners announced

Overview:

The Loughborough Global Challenge is a competition that unites the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with Loughborough University's strategic themes of Sport, Health & Well-being, Net Zero Climate Change, and Vibrant Inclusive Communities. This competition invites Students and recent Graduates (within 2 years of Graduation) to submit a 3-minute video pitch and a short application form, showcasing their innovative ideas and projects that address these critical global issues.

Applications must address the Competition Themes:

  1. Sport, Health & Well-being: Develop solutions that leverage the power of sports and physical activity to improve public health and well-being, contributing to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
  2. Net Zero Climate Change: Innovate and propose strategies for achieving a sustainable, low-carbon, and climate-resilient future in line with SDG 13 (Climate Action).
  3. Vibrant Inclusive Communities: Design initiatives that foster inclusive, diverse, and thriving communities in alignment with SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).

 

Judging Criteria:

  • Alignment with the competition themes
  • Innovation and originality of the idea.
  • Feasibility and scalability of the proposed solution.
  • Potential social and environmental impact.
  • Clarity and persuasiveness of the pitch.

3min Video Pitch format recommendation: Problem, Solution, Impact

The video pitch can be a recording of your pitch or a voice over of a video/powerpoint. It does not need to be anything super creative or techy, using a mobile phone camera is fine – we will only be reviewing the content not how it looks.
