Stewart Mason Building (076) - Gutter Repair - 3 weeks commencing 11/09/25.

Posted: 9 September 2025

Description of the Works

Gutter Repair Roof Area Over First Floor Lecture Rooms.

As part of the University’s ongoing programme of improvements to the Law School, essential works will shortly be undertaken to line and repair the roof gutters above the first-floor lecture rooms. These works are required to prevent future water ingress during adverse weather conditions and to protect the recently completed internal refurbishment of the new Law School.

To facilitate these works, a temporary safety roof-edge guardrail will be installed, and materials will be lifted into position using a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP). For health and safety reasons, this will require the temporary cordoning-off of the block-paved areas adjacent to the building for approximately one working day. During this period:

Impact restrictions during this period:

  • Pedestrian access to the new Law School and its perimeter will remain available via a short, clearly signposted detour.
  • The area of works will be securely managed to ensure the safety of staff, students, and visitors.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation while these important roof maintenance works are carried out. The Estates & Facilities Management team will work closely with the contractor to minimise disruption and to ensure all activities are undertaken safely and efficiently.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
