Description of the Works
The AHU serving the LSU nightclub basement space is to be replaced with a new AHU system, the internal supply air ‘blue sock’ fixed to the viewing balcony is to be removed and replaced with new rigid ductwork in a similar position.
To accommodate the new AHU the existing roof steels will be altered to suit the new AHU dimensions and load points. The external roof level service platform around the AHU area is to be extended with new ladder access to provide safer maintenance access to the roof service area.
The project will also include the installation of supplementary Air Conditioning to the nightclub basement space; this will involve the removal of some sections of existing redundant ductwork installed to the underside of the viewing balcony.
A new BMS panel will be installed to the storeroom 0.95 (to the right of the stage area – room below the AHU) to integrate the new plant to the university BMS system, a new fire alarm relay point will be installed adjacent to the new BMS panel.
Generally, the works will be contained within the basement nightclub area and external platform where the AHU is situated, some works will be required to the first floor break out space and toilet area to install a new data cable to the server room located behind the accessible toilet facility, fire stopping works will follow the cable installation.
The basement nightclub lower floor area will be inaccessible for the duration of the project due to contractor presence and floor space utilised for material storage.
Timescale
Project to commence Monday 30th June and runs through to 29th August 2025.
Crane removal of existing plant and delivery of the new AHU plant: 24/25 July 2025.
