Bicycle storage
All students living in halls have access to secure, on-site bike storage, fully covered by our contents insurance for added peace of mind.
Living in halls means you’ll have access to secure, on-site bike sheds or storage facilities to help keep your bicycle safe. If you live in a University hall, you can collect a bike shed key from your hall reception. For Unite halls, simply visit your hall reception to obtain the secure bike code. We strongly recommend using a high-quality bike lock and avoiding bringing an expensive bike to University.
Loughborough’s campus is very cycle-friendly, with plenty of bike storage areas available, many of which are undercover. You can find your nearest cycle rack or storage area by using the University’s interactive map (select Transport and Parking and Cycle Racks). To further protect your bike, University Security offers a free bicycle registration service. A small tag is attached to your bike and linked to your details, making it much easier to return to you if it is ever recovered after being lost or stolen.
Please note that bicycles are not permitted inside residential buildings. The only exception is for members of the Loughborough Students’ Cycling Club, where bikes must be stored in a cycle bag before entering the building. For more information, you can contact the Athletic Union Cycling Club via the Loughborough Sport website.
As the campus is extremely busy with all types of traffic, we recommend that any bike used on campus is fitted with fully working lights. Bicycles stored in designated bike storage areas are covered by contents insurance up to £500 through Howden for Students while living in halls. Bikes stored in bedrooms are not covered.
E-scooters, e-bikes and e-skateboards are not permitted on the University campus.
