Work and Opportunities Team

Talent Match has enabled hundreds of students from different disciplines and levels of study to work with organisations, including within Loughborough University itself to develop their, skills, confidence and work readiness.

Last year the team introduced micro-internships (50 hour long, mini projects), aimed at Part A and  B students, these were designed to provide students with professional work experience. For the last two years they have provided over 50 micro-internship opportunities to our students. The programme overall has delivered growth of over 300%, in the last three years.

Debbie Price and Front-Of-House Catering Team

The reason we are nominating the Front of house catering team is due to the achievements and successful catering and service for numerous events on campus throughout the year 2022/23.

The front of house catering is a huge part of ensuring the university is remembered for excellence in first class service and food and the University benefits from this reputation and is noticed at TUCO events. We engage all students, staff and LSU team to deliver first class service and are always on hand to adapt to any budget or requirement.

Nominees

Community Warden Team

The Community Warden team offer an exceptional support service to students living off campus, mirroring the role offered by the warden teams for halls of residence. The team deal with around 700 complaints and around 100 welfare cases per year. All of the team carry out their duties on top of other roles in the University and the majority of the work is carried out in the evenings and weekends.

The way they work and the service they deliver to support students mirror the University values completely.

Student Finance Project Team

The Student Finance project has been an amazing success, not only vastly improving the experience that students have whilst managing their University finances but also simplifying procedures for University staff that process student finance operations and recovering many millions of pounds of student fees that were previously not being paid.

EDI was considered throughout the project. For example, the MyFinance app was tested with a diverse series of student focus groups coordinated through the Student Ambassadors to ensure that it met the needs of all students.

Katryna Kalawsky

Katryna Kalawsky, Programme Director of Research Development Pathways (Enhanced Academic Practice) and Warden of Robert Bakewell, is a recurring name in discussions of what is great about the Loughborough community.

There is far more to say about Katryna’s approach, advocacy of mental health, and comforting humour, but until Loughborough offers a PhD in Kalawsky Studies, I’m not sure any of us will ever get to learn of the depth of her great talents, care and Loughborough Spirits.
