CREST Research Group
For over 25 years, CREST (Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology) has overseen the research and development for the most progressive renewable energy technologies. To this day, the group continues to instigate, lead and deliver high-quality, original research, collaborating with industry and international academic networks.
Our Aim
The research and development of these new technologies aims to uncover viable fossil fuel alternatives and support the rapid growth within the global sustainable energy sector. Through doing so, CREST continue to shape the sustainable energy landscape, supporting innovation, resourcing policy development and increasing knowledge through proactive dissemination. Additionally, CREST’s expansion continues as new research avenues are explored through large-scale, ground-breaking collaborations, with increasing numbers continuing to benefit from their knowledge dissemination.
As a member of the European Renewable Energy Centres Agency, CREST’s research activities cover a range of technical application including wind power, solar PV, energy in buildings, grid connection and integration and energy storage (including hydrogen).
In addition to the research undertaken, CREST offers a postgraduate degree in renewable energy systems technologies. The course is informed by the latest research and delivered by world-leading experts; the innovative distance learning option continues to widen its global reach and influence, ensuring the highly skilled graduates produced are prized by industry with many enjoying positions of influence.
