Professor Paul Wood, Professor of Ecohydrology, has overseen the publication of a memorial issue of the journal River Research and Applications celebrating the contributions of Professor Geoffrey Petts (1953-2018). Geoff was a former member of staff, Head of Geography and the first physical geography Professor at Loughborough University. The special issue includes papers from former colleagues and friends that provide reflections on the contributions that Geoff made to the field of ‘River Science’ and primary research papers inspired by the research he undertook. Contributions included many people with Loughborough connections past and present – Rob Wilby, Malcolm Greenwood, Peter Gell, Andrew Large, David Gilvear, Samuel Dixon, Matthew Hill, Sally Little, Kate Mathers, Emma Seddon and James White.  A brief biography and overview of his career is provided in the editorial along with an extended bibliography.
