Dr Kate Mathers awarded £590K by UKRI to extend her successful Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF)
Entitled “Stuck in the mud: addressing the fine sediment conundrum with multiscale and interdisciplinary approaches to support global freshwater biodiversity”, the fellowship represents a significant investment in research to understand the ecological consequences of fine sediment pressures within rivers.

A scientific consortium including Loughborough University researchers has been given millions to launch a research and training centre intending to better understand and manage flooding which has caused havoc across the UK this month.
Our academic staff deliver excellent research-informed teaching and we are home to a dynamic community of research students and visiting fellows. Technical and support staff are a vital part of the Geography and Environment student experience and research activities.
