I was new to Sociology when I first came to this country. I took it as an A level and degree and have no regrets. My advice is to enjoy the course, get out of your comfort zone and network with as many like-minded people as you can.
The variety of modules study is great here and they are all really interesting. It is also quite a small team of staff within social sciences, which creates a really nice student/lecturer-friendly relationship.
I chose Loughborough after visiting the campus on an open day. Loughborough is such a friendly university and I felt welcome and at home straight away. I love the range of modules we can choose from to study.
I worked at a Category B Male Prison as a Resettlement Case Manager on my placement year. From day one, I was given so much responsibility.
I decided to go to Loughborough originally due to the high reputation it holds. However, when I came to visit Loughborough, I realised it was so much more! I loved the campus and the sense of the saying ‘lboro bubble’.
I enjoy the range of modules that are offered. The core modules give me fundamental knowledge, but the optional modules allow me to pick modules that I want to know more about.
The best thing about my course is the flexibility to have a say over your degree. There are so many modules to choose from which range from Sociology, Media and Communications, Psychology and Optional Language Learning.
