About the Loughborough College of Education Commemorative Awards

The Amenities Fund of the former Loughborough College of Education was established for the benefit of students of that College. When the College amalgamated with the University it was resolved by the Amenities Committee to use the residual funds to establish a trust to commemorate the College by awarding annual prizes open to each of the Departments of the University which had previously been in the College of Education.

The award may be used to fund or partly fund a project. Projects that the awards have contributed to in the past include:

  • voluntary work at a Calcutta street Clinic.
  • work at the Sepilok Orang-utang Rehabilitation Centre in Borneo.
  • training for swimming coach qualification.
