Re-applying to halls
Ready to apply? Here's what you need to know.
Ready to return to halls?
Whether you're currently living in halls, renting privately or living elsewhere, you can apply to return to University accommodation for your next year at Loughborough.
Apply through the Accommodation Hub, where you can choose your preferred halls, room type and location.
Applying does not commit you to taking a room. Offers are made later in the academic year.
The application process is slightly different for postgraduate, PhD, Art and Design Foundation and ONCAMPUS students. Please see the information below for details on when and how to apply.
Postgraduate students
If you will be graduating and returning to Loughborough as a postgraduate student, you can apply online from February 2027, once your academic place has been confirmed.
PhD students who want to return to halls can also apply from February 2027.
Art and Design Foundation and ONCampus students
If you are currently an Art and Design Foundation student or ONCampus student, you cannot apply as a returning student.
Instead, you should apply for accommodation through UCAS as a new undergraduate student. You will receive more information about how to apply from May 2027.
How to apply as a current undergraduate student
Applying for halls is straightforward:
Log into the Accommodation Hub
Start your application online.
Choose your preferences
Tell us which room and location you would prefer.
Top tip: If you want to give yourself the best chance of returning to halls, put your current hall, or a hall you have previously lived in, as your first preference.
Returning students are more likely to be offered a room in a hall where they currently live or have lived before. If you choose a different hall as your first preference, particularly one that is oversubscribed, you are less likely to receive an offer.
Tell us about any preferences
If you would like to live with friends, include their name and student ID number in the 'additional information' box.
Top tip: Ask your friends to include your student ID number in their application too. We also recommend emailing your Hall Warden to let them know you would like to live together.
Submit your application
Once submitted, your application will be considered for accommodation.
Remember, applying does not commit you to taking a room.
Offers will be made from February/March. When you receive an offer, you can choose to accept or reject it. If you accept your offer, you will be bound by the terms and conditions of your accommodation licence.
Please note that returning students are not guaranteed a room.
How are rooms allocated?
We reserve around one third of our campus accommodation for returning students, so rooms are limited and an offer is not guaranteed.
Your Hall Warden decides who returns to the hall and where students are placed.
You are more likely to be offered a room in a hall where you currently live or have lived before. If returning to halls is your priority, we recommend putting your current or previous hall as your first preference.
If your preferred hall is oversubscribed, we will try to offer you a suitable alternative where possible.
Information for students with specific circumstances
Undergraduate international students
Students paying full international tuition fees are guaranteed an offer of campus accommodation for any two years of study, provided they submit their application before the deadline.
We will try to place you in the same hall, but in some circumstances you may be offered accommodation in another hall on campus.
Students with disabilities
If you have a disability-related room requirement, include this in the 'Do you want a particular room?' section of your application.
If you currently live in an adapted or wheelchair-accessible room and need to return to a similar room, please also email the Student Accommodation Centre at sac@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk.
Hall committee members
Your Hall Warden may be able to put a room on hold for you, but you must still submit an application before the application deadline.
Students going on placement
Apply for accommodation even if your placement has not yet been confirmed.
If you later secure a placement, you can cancel your accommodation by completing the cancellation form and providing proof of your placement within the required timescale.
Please note: Students that have accepted halls accommodation with outstanding accommodation fees on 1 July 2027 will have their contract cancelled. If you have accepted a room but wish to cancel an accepted Licence due to finding alternative accommodation, you may only do so prior to 1 June 2027 and you will be liable for cancellation charges.
